Registration and Call for Abstract Submission.

Third EDCTP Annual Forum

Venue: Swedish Society of Medicine, Stockholm, Sweden

The Third Annual EDCTP Forum will be held from 9 to 11 October 2006 at 'The Swedish Society of Medicine' (www.svls.se), which is situated in central Stockholm.

Theme
The theme of the forum is ‘Partnership and African Leadership: Challenges and Opportunities.’

Sub-themes
This will be on the three main poverty-related diseases namely HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis and will focus on the following sub-themes:
-Regulatory and ethical issues in clinical trials
-Capacity building and networking in conducting clinical trials
-Experiences in conducting clinical trials

Format
The forum format will include invited keynote addresses, oral plenary presentations, round-table discussions and short slide-presentations (pragsters). The forum language is English.

Short slide-presentations
Presenters are invited to submit a maximum of six to eight slides in the form MS PowerPoint summarising their presentations in this format (Download pragster, MS PowerPoint). These short slide presentations with a similar principle to poster presentations (poster abstract presentation, pragster) will be presented and discussed at allocated times at various computer stations during coffee and lunch breaks throughout the forum. The first slide of the presentations shall include title, authors (with the name of the presenting author underlined) and affiliations. The following slides should contain objectives, methods, results, discussion, conclusion and acknowledgements. All presentations will be available at the EDCTP homepage during and after the Forum.

Presentations must be submitted electronically to forum@edctp.org  by 23 July 2006.

Registration
Due to limitation in number of spaces, intending participants are advised to register early by completing the registration form (Download registration form, MS Word) obtainable on the EDCTP website (www.edctp.org). A registration fee of €200 that will cover forum materials, coffees and lunches will be required for participants from non-developing countries.

Registration forms must be submitted electronically to forum@edctp.org not later than 23 July 2006.

Bursary
A bursary of €3000 each will be available for a limited number of registered individuals from developing countries with preference given to those who have submitted an electronic presentation. Application for a bursary is included in the attached registration form that is also obtainable on the EDCTP website.
