Accounts and Procurement Officer

The African Malaria Network Trust (AMANET) is a pan-African non-profit institution whose mission is to promote capacity strengthening, performance and impact of African malaria R & D institutions. The Trust was incorporated in Tanzania on 14th March 2002.

Currently AMANET undertakes short- and long-term training of African malaria researchers, infrastructure improvement, equipping research institutions, and sponsorship of clinical and field trials of candidate malaria intervention tools.

AMANET is pleased to invite applications from suitable candidates for a vacant position of Accounts and Procurement Officer to be based at the Secretariat in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania.

Accounts and Procurement Officer
The responsibilities of the Accounts and Procurement Officer at AMANET Secretariat will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Ensure proper control of pricing and quality of goods and materials purchased;
  • Advise AMANET management on matters pertaining to inventory policy, procurement and security of stores;
  • Review and compile information on financial performance of the projects;
  • Check effectiveness of  budget controls;
  • Understudy trial needs at trial sites and advise on procurement;
  • Provide back up to the AMANET Finance and Administration Manager;
  • Undertake internal audit functions at the AMANET Secretariat;
  • Monitor installation, safety, use and maintenance of equipment at granted sites;
  • Audit  project accounts  at funded sites;
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Managing Trustee

 Qualifications

  • Preferably a basic degree in either accountancy, finance or materials management;
  • Excellent command of oral and written English is essential; a good knowledge of French would be an added advantage;
  • Self motivated, dynamic personality, high integrity needed;
  • High competence with computer usage is essential. 

Emoluments
The basic salary for this position will be USD 18,000 per annum.  The position carries attractive fringe benefits.
