- Vallée du Kou, 25 km from MC
- Hyperendemic, perennial transmission peaking July-October.
- >90% P. falciparum, 4% P. malariae,
1% P. ovale
- 90% of P. falciparum infections pure
- Primary malaria vectors are A. gambiae
and A. funestus
- >300 infective bites/year
- Hospital case fatality rate for severe malaria
is 19%
- Trypanosomiasis and onchocerciasis highly prevalent
at field site
