Web Based Courses
AMANET's Web Based Courses project has entered a new phase. The much successful Web Based Course in Basic Health Research Ethics is now available again hosted in a new platform. The course offers exactly the same content as before, however the methods of presentation have changed. For those who registered and took the previous course it is not necessary to do this course again. However if you registered but did not finish all the required modules then you must register again and start afresh.
What is new?
1. Self Printing of Certificate

With the new platform powered by Moodle and Wimba you will no longer have to wait for a certificate to be sent to you via post from the AMANET Secretariat. Your certificate will become available and downloadable to your computer in PDF, if you successfully complete the required modules. You will then make your own arrangements for printing the certificate.
2.Wimba Live Classroom

The new platform is powered by Wimba, an advanced set of tools which aim at creating an almost classroom like environment in the online training. Wimba will provide Live classroom, a tool that allows participants and instructors to meet directly online. This tool will enable voice as well as video direct interaction between participants and instructors.
3.Wimba Voice tools

With Wimba voice tools you can now get your voice heard literally. You can now take part in voice based discussion forum. In addition plans are underway to include voice version of the lectures so that you can opt to listen to the lecture rather than to read it. All you need is a computer with a sound card, a microphone and a headset or speakers.

The french version of the Basic Health Research Ethics Course will become available very soon. In addition an advanced course in Health Research Ethics

and a basic course in Good Clinical Practice are in preparation.

How to get started?
Follow the link to the Web Courses below then on the login box click Create New Account if you are visiting for the first time. A user account and password are required to access the courses.

In the new user information page enter your prefered username and password. You can use any name for username because in two other fields below you must also enter your real names (Important: Your names will appear in your certificate as you type them here. So be sure to avoid typing all capital letters or all small letter for your names. There are only two name fields which means if you prefer three names you should have your first two names in the first name field). Equally important enter your email address which is required for confirmation of your account and for other communications within the system. Complete the other required information then submit. If you entered your information accurately in the next page you will be informed that a message has been sent to your email. Your email is also displayed for you to make sure. You will need to click a link in the sent email to confirm your account and activate it. Beware that the sent email might end up in the spam mail/junky mail folder depending on your email account settings, so if it appears like some time has passed without receiving it check your spam mail/junky mail folder for a message with subject: African Malaria Network Trust (AMANET) Web Based Courses: account confirmation.

After clicking the link your account will be confirmed and message displayed on the browser. You can now click the Courses button to go directly into the Course catalog.
The course catalog shows the list of all available and visible courses. At the moment only the Basic Health Research Ethics course is visible. So click the course and a new page opens alerting you that You are about to enrol yourself as a member of this course.
Are you sure you wish to do this? Click yes. This will make you a student in the course by default.
